GU10 downlights (or GU10 cans) operate on mains voltage and don't require an additional LED driver. The GU10 is replaceable in the event of a failure or it can be replaced with a different colour temperature or beam angle.

The alternative to GU10 downlights are Integrated LED Downlights which are a complete style of downlight which contains the LED, driver and downlight holder as one unit.
